Every social platform today is functionally monolingual. A post in Portuguese reaches Portuguese speakers. A thread in Mandarin reaches Mandarin speakers. The cost of that arrangement runs into trillions of dollars a year of economic activity that never happens because the participants don't share a language. Babel fixes the translation-as-substrate primitive first — live at heybabel.com/translate — and builds the network on top.
