Everything you need to write about Babel — boilerplate, key facts, founder bio, logo assets, and a direct line to us.

Boilerplate (short)

Babel is the first social network built for 7.9 billion people across 100+ languages. Babel translates every post, DM, and video instantly in the user's own voice, so one post reaches the whole world at once. Pre-launch and waitlist-driven, Babel is privacy-first by design: no ad targeting, minimum data, free forever for the first million members.

Boilerplate (long)

Roughly 7.9 billion people speak about 6,000 languages, and every major social network in use today is functionally monolingual. A post written in Portuguese reaches Portuguese speakers. A thread in Mandarin reaches Mandarin speakers. The feeds, the algorithms, the emotes, and the subscriber economies all operate inside a single language layer, and the rest of the internet might as well not exist. The economic tax on that arrangement runs into the trillions of dollars a year, and the cultural tax is harder to measure but larger.

Babel is a consumer social network built to remove that tax. Every post, every direct message, and every video is translated in real time across 100+ languages, with voice preservation rather than captions — you hear the original speaker, in your own language, in something close to their own voice. Babel is complementary rather than competitive: the intended frame is "run it alongside Twitter, Mastodon, Bluesky, Twitch, or whatever you use today" rather than "replace everything." The product is pre-launch as of 2026, with a public waitlist at heybabel.com. Babel is remote-first, privacy-first, and bootstrapped, with an explicit commitment that the first million members get the product free forever and that no version of Babel will ever carry ad targeting.

Key Facts

Founder

Paulo de Vries
Founder

Paulo is a solo founder building Babel from scratch. Previously built multiple consumer products; believes the language barrier is the last remaining tax on the global internet and that removing it creates more economic upside than any other single improvement to social software.
